“Mythbusters” is a science entertainment television program on the Discovery Channel. Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman, the show’s hosts, use elements of the scientific method to test the validity of rumors, myths, movie scenes, adages, Internet videos, news stories, etc. At the end of each episode, the tested myth is rated as “busted,” “plausible,” or “confirmed.”

Review/personal thoughts:

A Mythbusters fan myself, I believe the show is a great way to expose tweens to science outside of a school setting. Hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman walk viewers through problem analysis and the scientific method in order to prove or disprove a thesis. Because each episode focuses on a popular belief, Internet rumor, or other myth, the show is able to truly peak viewer’s interests. The experiments showcased are often dangerous, however, and because of this the show begins with a disclaimer against attempting to “try this at home!”
